ASPIRE POLICIES

Communication:

It is our policy not to give out personal information such as email addresses or phone numbers of Aspire faculty.  If urgent communication is needed, please email or call us so that we can forward any messages for you.  We will inform you of any responses.

Private Lessons:

Private Zoom lessons are to be one-on-one between student and teacher unless the main purpose of the lesson is to receive chamber music coaching.  Lessons are considered to be the intellectual property rights of the teacher, and may NOT BE RECORDED without the permission of the faculty member.  If recording is granted, the recorded lesson is for the exclusive use of the student, and is not to be posted on any social media sites or YouTube.  Follow-up lessons, if desired, are to be booked through Aspire.

Masterclasses:

Each faculty member will decide how each masterclass is to be structured. In some cases, the faculty may choose to lecture on and/or demonstrate certain musical techniques or musical repertoire, followed by an open question and answer period.  In other cases, faculty may choose to hear selected students perform so that helpful comments can be made.  There is no guarantee that people will be given the opportunity to perform, especially in larger classes.  The length of each masterclass will be posted with the description of the session.  Joining or leaving a masterclass after the scheduled start time is the participant’s option, but there will be no cash refund for time missed. MASTERCLASSES ARE NOT TO BE RECORDED BY ANYONE!

Zoom Settings:

For best audio settings, please refer to the “Zoom Sound Tips” tab for advice on getting the best audio quality.  All persons attending the session should make sure that their computer or device is set for “Original Sound for Musicians,” even if they are only listening to others perform.

Getting a Refund:

Missing a Zoom session or arriving late will not be reason for obtaining a refund of fees.  However, in the unlikely event that the teacher misses the Zoom session, the teacher will be obligated to make up the session in a timely manner by rescheduling through Aspire.  Given the busy schedules of faculty, students should allow reasonable wait time for faculty to log on. Any delay of time will be made up, ensuring that the full lesson time is given.

Should the Zoom link be inoperable or have excessive technical difficulties, the teacher may inform Aspire that the session is to be rescheduled, allowing one or both participants to find more suitable locations where reception may be better.

Scheduling a Private Lesson:

When viewing a faculty member’s page, the purchaser will have the option of choosing various lengths of the lesson.  The purchaser must also select the time period preferred.  Aspire will contact the teacher as to availability, and get back to the purchaser.  If no time is possible during the timeframe selected, the purchaser will have the option to switch to a different teacher (adjusting the lesson fee a needed) or get a refund. Typically, lessons are set up within a few days after purchase.  Aspire will generate the Zoom session, and will send links to purchaser and teacher.

Cancelling a Private Lesson of Masterclass Membership:

Purchaser may cancel a private lesson or masterclass spot, but a refund will not be given unless cancellation is at least 24 hours prior to the scheduled date and time. Cancellation should only be for significant reasons.
