Andy Anderson

Biography

Andrew Anderson is an American double bassist, educator, and arts administrator. He holds tenured bass positions with the Lyric Opera of Chicago Orchestra and the Grant Park Symphony Orchestra and performs regularly with the Joffrey Ballet and Chicago Camerata. His additional performance credits include appearances with the Minnesota Orchestra, Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra, Detroit Symphony Orchestra, Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra, Columbus Symphony, and American Ballet Theatre.

Andrew is the founder and executive director of the Lakeside Artists Guild and Academy in Cedar Lake, Indiana. Through the organization, he oversees a growing educational program serving more than one hundred students each week and produces dozens of concerts annually, including the Lakeside Summer Concert Series, a free outdoor concert series on the Cedar Lake waterfront. Since 2025, Andrew has served as Clinical Assistant Professor of Double Bass at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. He previously taught at the Chicago College of Performing Arts at Roosevelt University, Wheaton College, and the Merit School of Music, and has served on the faculty of the Credo Festival and Masterworks Festival. Andrew earned degrees from the University of Michigan and Indiana University and later served as a doctoral teaching fellow at the University of North Texas.
