Biography

Trombonist Brad Edwards has appeared as a soloist before audiences in the United States and Europe, including Germany, Norway, and Spain, and has twice played concerti with the US Army Band at the American Trombone Workshop. Audiophile magazine praised his CD, “Trombone And…” stating, “The performances are all excellent.”

Dr. Edwards teaches at Arizona State University and has previously taught at the University of South Carolina and the University of Northern Iowa. He is best known for his pedagogical books including, Lip Slurs, Lip Slur Melodies, The Intermediate books (trombone, euphonium, and tuba) as well as the Trombone Craft, Simply Singing for Winds, and the Patterns & Snippets books. His newest books are the Melodious books (trombone, bass trombone, tuba). These books have sold roughly 40,000 copies.

Edwards was a member of and soloist with the US Air Force Band in Washington D.C. and has held positions as principal trombonist with a number of regional orchestras. Currently, he is the Principal Trombone with the South Carolina Philharmonic. He has performed with The Phoenix Symphony, Baltimore Symphony, Baltimore Opera, National Symphony and Charlotte Symphony. During the summers, he performs with the Summit Brass while teaching at the Rafael Méndez Brass Institute in Denver.
