Biography
As a world-renowned trumpet soloist, Carole Dawn Reinhart had her first music lessons from her mother, a trombonist, at age two and a half. At ten, she won a scholarship to The Juilliard School in New York. With a symphony orchestra scholarship, she earned a BA degree from the University of Miami. She then received a Fulbright Scholarship to study in Vienna where she was the first woman to achieve a Reifezeugnis on a brass instrument. She then returned to Juilliard to complete her BS and MS degrees. In 2009, she earned a PhD from the University of Music in Vienna.
Reinhart’s extensive career of solo concerts with symphony orchestras and chamber ensembles took her all over the US, Canada, Europe, Asia, Israel, South Africa, and to Australia, where she performed a live television broadcast with the Australian Symphony in Melbourne at an amphitheater before 100,000 people. In 1983, she was offered a professorship at the prestigious University of Music in Vienna. Now a Professor Emeritus, she continues teaching by giving masterclasses around the world and as a juror for solo competitions. In 1993, the Vienna University Press published the book, Carole Dawn Reinhart: Aspects of a Career. It is now in its third edition.
