Biography
Award-winning composer George Oldziey is a versatile and accomplished artist whose work spans film, television, video games, and popular music. He first entered the world of film scoring when he teamed up with director Robert Rodriguez to create the score for Spy Kids 2. That collaboration launched a long-standing creative partnership, and Oldziey has since served as composer, contributing composer, orchestrator, and score producer for numerous feature films. His credits also include Spy Kids 3-D: Game Over, Once Upon a Time in Mexico, Kill Bill: Vol. 2, Sin City, Grindhouse – Planet Terror, The Adventures of Sharkboy and Lavagirl, Shorts, Sin City: A Dame to Kill For, House of Gucci, The Grinch, and the Netflix films We Can Be Heroes, and Spy Kids; Armegeddon.
In addition to his work on major studio features, George has composed scores for a wide range of documentaries and short films. His music for the short film Remember Me earned the award for Best Musical Score at the Los Angeles based 2017 168 Film Project festival. The following year, he won Best Musical Score at the 2018 Los Angeles Live Score Film Festival for the short film Arrow and Oil, which also received the festival’s Best Picture award.
George is also widely known in the video game industry. As an in-house composer for Electronic Arts he created scores for some of gaming’s most iconic franchises, including the Wing Commander, Ultima, and Crusader series. After his tenure at EA, he continued to contribute to the medium, composing and producing music for titles such as SpongeBob SquarePants for PlayStation 2, the epic orchestral score for Shaiya, Red Faction: Guerrilla, and Certain Affinity’s Crimson Alliance.
Beyond composing, George is in high demand as an orchestrator and arranger. He crafted the arrangements for Chilean singer Mon Laferte’s 2019 Latin Grammy–winning album Norma. He also provided horn arrangements for Aerosmith’s Deuces Are Wild tour.
George is currently on the faculty of the Berklee College of Music in Boston where he is an Associate Professor of Screen Scoring.
