Biography
Tenor saxophonist Jerry Bergonzi is an internationally recognized jazz performer, composer, author, and educator. He first gained recognition with the Dave Brubeck quartet, touring and recording with it from 1973 to 1982.
Bergonzi’s discography includes more than 60 recordings on labels such as Blue Note, Red, Concord, Atlantic, Label Bleu, Enja, Columbia, Deux Z, Denon, Canyon, Cadence, Musidisc, Ram, Ninety One, Freelance, Savant, Double-Time Records, and his own Not Fat. He also has 60 recorded song titles registered with ASCAP.
Jerry has taught at conservatories and universities throughout the U.S. and Europe, and is currently on the faculty at the New England Conservatory. He is the author of a series of play-along CDs and videos, entitled Inside Improvisation (seven volumes published by Advance Music), and a book/CD set titled Sound Advice, published by Jamey Aebersold Jazz.
