Beyond Accuracy: Tools for Robust Interpretation (Class length 2 hrs.)

Oboists have been using the Barret Oboe Method for more than 150 years. However, the melodic exercises therein are not just to teach how to play the oboe; they also provide a window into 19th century performance practice and notation.  We’ll explore some hidden messages in the Barret and learn how you can move past mere accuracy and into more varied and powerful interpretations.

Five (5) performers will be able to play and be coached by Professor Davis for approximately 20 minutes each by paying a premium fee on a first-come, first-served basis.  All others may participate as auditors at a lower fee.  A question and answer session will conclude the class.
